FAQs
Do I ever need a permit?
Large‑scale excavation and new‑build trenches still require 811 notification. For maintenance digs under Code Rule 753 and most vacuum‑only scopes, you’re clear.
Will my municipality recognize hydrovac as “hand excavation”?
Yes. Over thirty towns in New York already do. We supply compliance letters and prior approvals to ease any doubts.
Is hydrovac really “non‑destructive” under state law?
Yes. CGA Best Practice 5.32 and OSHA interpretation letters recognize vacuum excavation as an acceptable hand‑tool equivalent when used within tolerance zones. Best PracticesOSHA
How do you handle traffic control?
We set up MUTCD‑compliant cones, signage, and arrow boards, and our 600‑ft hose lets us stage trucks safely off the roadway.
